April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics and will attempt to win her third Olympic medal. Ross will also be hoping for her first Olympic medal. This may be the last time she has the chance as she is 39 years old. However, she is certain of taking top honors. Ross was quoted by NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you play well we will get the gold. This is also the result of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. She went on to compete in numerous activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She played basketball and ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball achievements in her time as a college athlete. She clearly was the top at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her own biography her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). As a tribute to her efforts, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. She also received an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do in 2017. The reality is that Ross was an important player in the world of beach volleyball before the pairing. As a matter of fact Ross has won a number of significant tournaments during her time with two partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through the year 2013. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the international arena, taking home the 2009 World Championship as a team. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team who took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, beat each other to take home the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she announced her retirement. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college player for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She was a player in high school, as well as before hitting the beaches as a professional. Ross had an impressive run during her time in college. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in 2000 as a young freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she was devastated by a personal setback but managed to make it back as an All-American. In her last two seasons with the Trojans in the program, she led them to victories by winning consecutive national championships. The achievements of each individual have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross studied at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the privilege of watching her daughter become an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She still holds her mother close to her heart. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the shore.
