Despacito is a song from 2017 that was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top streamed track in the world within the space of six months. It was a combination of pop and reggaeton which not only brought attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish by 2016 compared to just two songs in 2015. In 2017, at the peak of the popularity of Despacito the track was one of 19 that mainly Spanish made it to the Top 100. By 2020 it will have 41 hits in this category. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito came out in the year 2017. Then, numerous famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton singers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna worked with Maluma for the release of Medellin. The year 2000 saw a number of reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at its inclination towards mainstream. However, a younger generation, led by Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance and other styles.
